It’s been a couple weeks since we saw our LASIK contest winner Tyler for his one day post-operative appointment! We’ve checked back with him to hear about his LASIK experience. If you have ever considered getting LASIK you’re going want to keep reading…Tyler is going to walk us through the process from start to finish!
“I decided to enter the 97.3 NOW LASIK contest because I thought of it like the lottery. You can’t win if you don’t enter. I did consider LASIK for quite some time before hearing about the contest. The most frustrating part about wearing glasses was that they always got in the way when I was trying to enjoy some outdoor activities such as snowboarding, rock climbing, and swimming.
When I found out I was the winner, I was so excited! I had to come to Milwaukee Eye Care to determine if I was a good candidate before LASIK surgery. The consultation and evaluation went smooth, and it was very informative. I was a little concerned that my eyes were going to be deemed ineligible because the prescription on my glasses was over 5 years old, but they determined I was a candidate for LASIK. I left the office with all of my questions answered, and I felt confident with what was to come.
On the day of the procedure, while I was at work, I couldn’t stop thinking of how my life was going to change. I didn’t feel nervous at all, because I was excited. While getting ready for the procedure at the LASIK center, I felt calm and relaxed, because I understood the whole process. The procedure went flawlessly. It went by pretty quick as I expected, because the entire procedure was explained to me beforehand. I felt a bit of uncomfortable pressure from the machine that creates the flap but it was absolutely painless.
When I got home after the LASIK procedure I used the eyedrops and then went to sleep. To my surprise, my eyes didn’t hurt at all. Things seemed a little brighter than usual but I was able to see far as if I were wearing my glasses. The next morning I had my post-op appointment with Dr. Edmonds. I was a little worried, but I was told that everything looked good!
The healing process has been great since the procedure. I don’t have to worry about looking for my glasses in the morning! The only thing that has changed is that I use some eye drops everyday, but my eyes don’t feel as dry as I had expected them to feel. I think that people who didn’t know that I had the LASIK procedure assume that I am just wearing contacts. So far, my favorite thing about getting LASIK is that I don’t have to worry about my glasses fogging up when I wear my goggles for snowboarding! I can’t wait to enjoy the other activities to come!”
